Banning more ATVs
Dear Editor:
I am a native Idahoan, an active hunter and ATV rider. I try
to keep up on issues by scanning the internet to learn more about
things. I was appalled to read that our Congressman Simpson has
sided with the environmentalists to establish another wildemess
area and create another area were ATVs are banned. ATVs are already
banned for hunting, so will this be the next kind of Eco-terrorist
attack we will have to fight off?
ATVs
It seems that the Idaho Parks & Recreation Department tried
to establish a 600-mile lone trail system in Custer and Butte
counties, similar to what we have in Utah. But the California
transplants in Blaine County wanted none of it, so using backdoor
politics; they got Congressman Simpson to introduce the Central
Idaho Economic Development and Recreation Act (CIEDRA). This
act sets aside 300,000 acres of land for wildemess
in Custer County, boosts the economy of Blaine County while banning
ATV use. Simpson has kept this quiet by hiding it under the name
of Economic Develop-ment - ha!
Wilderness
The area is known as the Boulder-White Clouds, which
is public land that is grazing land and a recreation area for
hunters, ATVs, jeeps, campers, and horseback riders. This is
not a pristine wilderness area. It has roads and camping areas.
But Simpson has aligned with the liberals to set aside this area.
The banning of ATVs is being offset by the establishment of ATV
Parks in Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls. These
ATV Parks, allow ATV riders to go around on a circular track.
Wow, what fun, I cant wait!
Economics
According to the Challis Messenger, the Custer County
newspaper, the wilderness area established by CIEDRA will be
of no economic benefit to Custer County, but will be of a great
economic benefit to the Sun Valley resorts.
Be aware
If this is what Simpson and the liberal environmentalists have
in mind to keep ATVs and grazing off public lands, then, our
countys mountains are a prime candidate for such Ecoterrorism.
Simpson, I am voting against you for this one!
