The Challis Vikings traveled to Raft River on a cool rainy night Friday to take on the number-one ranked team in Idaho Division 1 A1 eight-man football.

The Raft River Trojans proved to be as tough as advertised by scoring 22 first-quarter points and 20 second-quarter points, all on plays of over 20 yards. Challis’ offense struggled to get going through the contest against Raft River’s potent defense and the Vikings were held to a season low in yardage and points.

Defensively, the Vikings were able to hold Raft River to 48 points, which was the Trojans’ lowest offensive output in points this season, but they just couldn’t stop the big plays throughout the contest. Final score was Challis, 6; Raft River, 48.

The highlight of the game for both teams and the fans was a 65-yard touchdown run by #40 Viking Joel Zettel in the fourth quarter. It was a spectacular run by Joel and a great example of sportsmanship in the Snake River conference and high school sports.

Challis will be hosting Glenns Ferry Friday night for Homecoming.
