Good Old Days of Custer County

Tourists galore — Approximately 20 people participated in only the second official public tour of the ghost town of Bayhorse since 1949. The tour, conducted by the North Custer Historical Society and sponsored by the Challis Lions Club, also included a stop at the Buffalo Jump, where archaeologist Marion McDaniel talked about the findings of an ISU dig at the site, and at the lower Bayhorse Cemetery, where Art Packard spoke about some of the people buried there. Other speakers included Fields Bender, Roberta Green and Bill Sullivan. The historical society hopes to conduct similar tours of other ghost towns in the future.
