Good Old Days of Custer County

Tom Pfeiffer laughs out loud when presented with a 14-k gold Benrus quartz watch from the Post Office after 29 years of service without ever taking a sick day. The source of his humor was when someone commented that the watch came late (Pfeiffer retired June 30 and this presentation was made October 27) because it was delivered parcel post. Postmaster Bud Mecham insisted that wasn’t true, it came via UPS.
