Good Old Days of Custer County

Sharing parts of the past — Loyd Sammons gave an interesting presentation on his “amateur collections” at the senior citizens’ monthly potluck on March 20. The Saturday evening meal and entertainment were enjoyed by about 25 people. Poets recited rhymes, and Loyd shared his shoehorn and hair comb collections, along with his copies of front pages of newspapers. Included in his newspaper collection is a front page of the Idaho Messenger dated June 2, 1881. The seniors welcome local talent to participate in their amateur nights.

Little grapplers take to the mats

Blake Windsor is all smiles as he gets a hug from his mother, Lacy Windsor, after a youth wrestling match. Win or lose, most everyone had fun and learned wrestling moves during training sessions and the annual night of fun competition. Todd Adams photo

Two matches of wrestlers almost overlap on the mat as the referee no doubt hopes to keep his match from becoming a four-way free-for-all.
