Fire sale

North Custer Fire Department wants to sell this 1983 GMC fire engine. It’s parked outside the Challis Fire Hall, so potential buyers can check it out. It has a 1,000 gallon tank and a pump with a 1,000 gallon per minute capacity, according to Fire Chief Launna Gunderson. It’s listed as surplus, and no bids to buy it have been submitted. The truck runs but needs some work to fix gauges on the dashboard. The department has no room to store the engine inside and would like to sell it before winter sets in. Bids can be submitted to North Custer Fire Department, P.O. Box 916, Challis, ID 83226. Gunderson can be reached at 208-879-2932 for more information. Todd Adams photo
