Skies above Challis remain smoky

The Ibex Fire putt up a big plume Aug. 3, as this view from Twin Peaks Lookout shows. Smoke has been blowing into Challis and settling in Round Valley and surrounding locations from various regional wildfires, at times making air quality poor.

This week’s limited rainfall did little to slow the progress of two fires burning near Challis, and smoke from those fires and other major fires around the state continue to leave the area blankete

Fire danger results in trail closures, use restrictions
