Norse News - Vikings win 1A state trophy, place third among 2A schools

The Viking wrestlers won the 1A trophy at the State Wrestling Tournament and brought home the third place trophy for the 2A/1A division last weekend at Holt Arena in Pocatello. The boys wrestled exceptionally well and had two individual state champions and three more wrestlers who placed in the top five. Team scores North Fremont 187.5, Parma 166, Challis 127, Melba 121.5, New Plymouth 120, Malad 113, Declo 108, Firth 107, Prairie 70, Garden Valley 65, West Jefferson 65, Valley 59, Grace 49, Grageville 48, Wallace 47, Ririe 44, Westside 44, Kamiah 42, Aberdeen 30, Marsing 28, Butte County 27.5, Oakley 27, Raft River 23.5, Potlach 21, Hansen 19, Glenns Ferry 16.5, Soda Springs 14, North Gem 13.5, Kootenai 11, Clearwater Valley 5, Tri Valley 3, Nez Perce 1. Individual results First: Ben Laughlin was a state champion, wrestling at 152 pounds, while Addison Amar also took home state championship at 285. Second: Kaleb Latimer was state runner-up at 171 pounds. Fourth: Randy Plummer at 135. Fifth: Dane Moon at 189. Several other Vikings competing but did not place in the top five. They were: Dylan Robins (2 wins, 2 losses in his matches) at 119, Brett Rembelski (2-2) at 145, Cavan Gerrish (2-2) at 160, Skyler Darrah (1-2) at 140, Grayden Bloxham (1-2) at 125, and Seth Whitworth (0-2) at 140.
