And this little piggy went to school

Jacob Scholl, foreground right, grins as he cuddles a piglet last Wednesday at Natural Resource Awareness Day sponsored by Custer Soil and Water Conservation District at Challis Elementary School. Education and encouragment of youngsters about the importance and wise use of natural resources, plus a lot of fun, is the goal. The piglets were raised by Kelly Swingruber and George McQuiston, proprietors of Darling Creek Livestock. In the background, Swingruber’s son, Wiley Hansen, hands another piglet to a member of Mrs. Zollinger’s second grade class. Putting a bunch of squealing kids and piglets together in a livestock trailer generated tons of excitement. See more photos and information about the annual event in next week’s issue of The Challis Messenger.
