The Vikings brought an end to a so-far undefeated season for the Hagerman Pirates, winning 36-12. The The Pirates were 2-0 before the game, and the Vikings were 1-1.

Chondo promotes black belts and Tigers

Chondo Martial Arts Academy held a black belt testing and promotional ceremony Aug. 17. Chief Master Bj Bryant, 7th-degree black belt, Master Shelbie Bryant, 5th-degree black belt, and instructor Blain Aldous, 3rd-degree black belt, conducted the testing. Students were evaluated on forms, one-step sparring, self defense, sparring, board breaking, tae kwon do history and philosophy. From left, William Wahlstrom, Grace Kowarko, Coltin Kowarko and Johnny Gilbert were promoted to 1st-degree black belt.

The Tae Kwon Do Tigers learn fundamental tae kwon do etiquette, tradition and techniques, as well as stretching, balance and coordination.
