Cars shine in classy show

Chuck Thomson Sr., 91, of Twin Falls, was likely the oldest participant in the Challis Classy Chassis’ annual Show ’n Shine car show. His shirt matches the paint on his 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak. This was Chuck’s fourth or fifth trip to Challis for the show. The chrome alone takes half a day to polish, he said, although he admitted his son, Chuck Thomson Jr. “does most of the work.” He’s retrofitted the car with air conditioning, power steering and brakes and cruise control, so it’s comfortable to drive long distances. Two years ago he drove it to a show in Redding, California.
