Florence “Flossie” Mae Miller Johnson, 86, of Mackay, Idaho passed away January 13, 2013 at The Gables in Shelley, Idaho.Flossie was born February 4, 1926 in Mackay, Idaho to George A. and Mabel Shiffler Miller. She was the first of two children. Flossie grew up in the Little Lost River Valley, riding horses with her dad, mom and little brother Bennie. They would spend the summers in Little Lost and the winters in Mackay. She married the love of her life, Victor A. Johnson, on October 8, 1945 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they ranched in the Barton Flat and Copper Basin areas where her grandchildren and great-grandchildren reside and carry on the tradition. Flossie loved to have people over and was the hostess of the Thursday Barton Bridge Club, Tuesday night Bible Study and many holiday parties. Cooking was her favorite hobby, She was a member of the Eastern Star, Mackay Community Church and the Mt. Borah Cowbelles. She participated in 4-H and was the first Mackay Rodeo Queen. She is survived by her daughter Vickie Mae (Don) Northrop; son Scott (Julie) Johnson; grandchildren Jake (Heather), Caleb (Kristin), Amy (Kolton) Kimball; and great-grandchildren Kelsey, Kassidy, Kinley and Victor Otto. Funeral Services were held Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Mackay Community Church. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Hawker Lost River Funeral Home in Arco. Interment followed at the Mt. McCaleb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Mackay Community Church, 206 Park Avenue, Mackay, Idaho, the Mackay Volunteer Ambulance or the Arco Volunteer Ambulance.
