Bessie B. Reynolds

Bessie B. Reynolds
Bessie Beth Mavity Reynolds was born June 2, 1925 in Challis, Idaho to William Wallace Mavity and Mabel Keyser. Bessie went home to be with The Lord God, her parents and sisters, Wilma and Donna, and her niece Janie, on March 8, 2013.

She was married in 1943 to Gene LaVern Reynolds while he was on furlough from the U.S. Air Force. Bessie and Gene were Challis High School sweethearts. Bessie resided in many states and foreign lands before settling in Nampa in the mid-1980s. Bessie was a producer in the real estate market and also worked in retail sales.

Bessie was an active volunteer for many years at St. Alphonsus hospital in Nampa where she enjoyed her fellow workers. Recently, she was baptized in the Catholic Faith and loved The Lord God.

Bessie was survived by her loving sister Norine, who resides in Nampa; sons Ronnie and wife Barbara who reside in Lewiston; Douglas and wife Lin, who reside in Nampa; and daughter Deborah and husband Craig, who reside in Evanston, Wyoming. She loved her 20 grandchildren who live throughout the West, Pennsylvania and Illinois. She was proud of her 28.5 great-grandchildren, along with more than 20 nephews and nieces, who loved her dearly.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, William Wallace Mavity and Mabel Keyser; her loving sisters Wilma Baker, Donna Dean; former husband Gene Reynolds; and a loving niece Janie Baker Allen.

From her roots in Challis, Bessie learned discipline, frugality with generosity for others and practicing compassion for others while celebrating her independence. Bessie held the place of matriarch tirelessly binding her family together. Bessie loved to garden; everything seemed to grow for her. She remained independent, caring for her pets and home up to her last day with us, teaching us all that strength of character comes from within. We are all saddened by the loss, but eternally grateful to have been a part of her life. Bessie will truly be missed, forever loved and never forgotten. She will live as long as we do, within our hearts and minds.

— Her Loving Children.
