Former Challis resident Tom Reese passed away at The Cottages Assisted Living Center in Mountain Home.Tom was born in Filer, Idaho to Andrew J. Reese and L. Ellen Hart-Satterlee-Reese. He was raised in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana and served as an able seaman with the Merchant Marine services during World War II. He served for two years in the Army from 1950 to 1952. Tom worked in ranching and mining in his early years and had a variety of jobs wherever his wanderlust would send him. He married Ervina (Rusty) Poe-Haight in 1955. Tom was the last of a generation that included one brother, four half-brothers, one half-sister and wife Rusty. He is survived by a sister-in-law, his stepdaughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Tom lived in Challis from 2005 to 2012 with his nephew Bruce and wife Cathy Reese until he entered assisted living last August. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer.
