American Red Cross officials will conduct blood drives in Mackay and Salmon this month.
The Mackay blood drive runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 531 W. Spruce St.
Two drives are scheduled in Salmon. The first is from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26. The second drive runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27. Both are at Salmon Valley Baptist Church, 1140 Cemetery St.
A national blood shortage exists, Matt Ochsner with the Red Cross said. September blood donors can receive a coupon for a free haircut from Sports Clips and will be entered into a drawing to attend a NASCAR race.
People should schedule appointments to donate blood by calling 800-733-2767, going online to RedCrossBlood.org or via the Red Cross blood donor app that can be downloaded to a smartphone.
